How Laser Cleaning Works

Focused light does the work — the surface underneath stays the priority.

A controlled laser pulse breaks the bond between a coating or contaminant and the surface beneath it, lifting rust, paint, and grime as mostly dry particulate that's captured with vacuum and filtration — instead of bags of spent media or chemical slurry.

Non-contact & surface-conscious

Nothing physically scrapes the surface, so profiles, edges, and details can be preserved when parameters are right.

Precise & controllable

Power and pulse are dialed in per material and confirmed with test patches before any larger scope.

Clean by design

No blasting media and no chemical stripping — nothing to contain, haul, or wash into the ground or the bay. A real advantage near the water.

Why Laser, Why Coastal

A cleaner method — and an honest one.

Sandblasting and chemical stripping can work, but they bring grit, slurry, waste, and damage risk. When laser is the right fit, it does the job with no media and no chemical baths — and when it isn't, we'll tell you.

01

No media, no chemicals

Mostly dry particulate captured at the source — no spent grit and no chemical slurry to contain or dispose of.

02

Surface-conscious

Non-contact removal that helps preserve sound metal, wood, and detail when parameters are right.

03

Done in place

Mobile rig comes to your site — no crating or hauling assets to a blast facility.

04

Certified & safe

Class 4 program built on ANSI Z136.1 & OSHA, led by a Certified Laser Safety Officer, EPA Lead-Safe certified.

Restore & Protect

Cleaning is only half the job. Keeping it clean is the other half.

Removing rust or a failed coating gets you back to sound metal — but the coastal environment goes right back to work the moment we leave. On suitable projects we don't just restore the surface, we help it stay ahead of corrosion on a recurring basis.

Protectant products are matched to the specific metal, use, and environment. They are maintenance-oriented — not permanent coatings or lifetime rust-proofing.

1 · Clean with laser

Lift rust, coatings, and contamination where laser is the right fit.

2 · Apply protectant

Maintenance-grade products help slow flash rust and stretch maintenance intervals.

3 · Schedule checkups

Periodic visits on critical metal so you stay ahead of corrosion — not chasing it.

Safety Is The Backbone

Safety isn't a checkbox here — it's how we run the company.

Coastal Laser Restoration holds safety to the highest standard, and that commitment shows up on every single job before it ever shows up in the finished surface. Every project is planned, controlled, and documented around protecting you, your people, your property, and our crew — with the discipline of a formal Class 4 laser safety program behind it.

If conditions or coatings don't support safe laser use, we stop and tell you straight. That standard is the foundation everything else is built on.

How that shows up on the job

  • Class 4 laser work run under a documented safety program, led by a Certified Laser Safety Officer (LSO).
  • Built on ANSI Z136.1 laser-safety guidance and OSHA construction & general-industry requirements.
  • Controlled work areas, PPE, fume and dust capture, and clear stop-work rules whenever conditions change.
  • EPA Lead-Safe (RRP) work practices applied wherever older or historic coatings may contain lead.

About Coastal Laser Restoration

A Rhode Island company built around a better way to clean.

Coastal Laser Restoration LLC is a Scituate-based, owner-operated mobile laser cleaning service. We brought fiber-laser technology to Rhode Island because the old options — sandblasting, grinding, and chemical stripping — are messy, hard on the surfaces they're meant to save, and tough on the coastal environment we live in.

Our promise is simple: the contamination comes off, the surface underneath stays sound, and your site is left clean — and it's all done safely. Safety is the backbone of this company: every job runs under a documented Class 4 laser safety program led by a Certified Laser Safety Officer, fully insured and licensed, with EPA Lead-Safe (RRP) practices applied wherever older coatings call for them.

Let the project drive the method

Not sure if laser is right for your project? Let's find out.

Describe the surface, where it lives, and its current condition — then add clear photos. We'll tell you honestly whether laser alone, laser plus prep, or a different approach is the right call.
